In the World Cup 2023, Afghanistan had an amazing World Cup season. Being a new member, they nailed this tournament. But this time they are in the limelight not for their performance. Currently, Afghanistan is not playing their home games in their country. Dubai is hosting its home games now. However, as per the reports, the Afghanistan Cricket Board is in touch with BCCI to arrange their home games in India in 2024.
New Home for Afghanistan Cricket:
Afghanistan cricket is evolving day by day. The way they are making an impact in the cricket world is inspiring. However, there is a concern about their home games. Due to the security matter, the Afghanistan Cricket Board is not arranging their home games in the country. That is a big concern. To solve this matter, they made a five-year contract with the Emirates Cricket Board to host their matches. Currently, they are hosting all their matches in Dubai.
But another concern arises over that fact. The contract has come to an end. The board is looking for new venues to arrange their home games. As per reports, the Afghanistan Cricket Board is in touch with BCCI. They are thought to arrange the home games in India in 2024.
Current Scenarios in Afghanistan Cricket:
The Afghanistan Cricket Board is going through a lot. Three Afghanistan players Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazal Haq Farooqi, and Naveen Ul Haq are receiving the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s central contract. They are alleged to give priority to franchise cricket over the national duty. They are prioritizing their interests over playing commercial leagues. While doing this, they are ignoring the national responsibilities. ACB has now decided not to grant them NOCs for the next two years.
Afghanistan will travel to India in January 2024. They are scheduled to play three T20 matches. The first T20 will be played on January 11 at the Punjab Cricket Association. The second match of the series is scheduled to happen on January 14 at the Holkar Stadium. The third match will be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on January 17.
