Andre Russell strikes Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic pose in front of King Khan

West Indian players are known for their aggressive shots and big sixes that they hit during T20 cricket. West Indies batsman Andre Russell is one of those players, who is known for hitting big sixes and playing in different T20 leagues all around the world. Russell is a major member of the Indian Premier League franchise and also plays for its substitute teams Trinbago Knight Riders and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the CPL and ILT20 respectively.

Andre Russell is currently playing for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 2024. Knight Riders defeated Desert Vipers in their recent match of the tournament by 6 wickets. While Knight Riders were able to defeat Vipers, ABKR co-owner, Shah Rukh Khan came out to watch the match at the Dubai International Stadium.

Shah Rukh Khan, who is known by the name ‘King Khan’ amongst his fans, is also very popular for his signature pose. Andre Russell was seen performing Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic pose after the end of the match against the Desert Vipers. Shahrukh Khan was seen humbled by Andre Russell’s gesture and responded back with a kiss towards him.

Going back to the Desert Vipers versus Abu Dhabi Knight Riders game, in Dubai, the Vipers scored 164/8 while batting first. Adam Hose scored 45 runs from 30 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six, to lead the Vipers in scoring during their innings. Apart from Hose, no other batter could muster much of an effect and was out after making ten or twenty runs or so.

With three wickets at the end of the innings, Ali Khan was the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders’ best bowler. Josh Little, Imad Wasim, and David Willey each took one wicket, while Sunil Narine claimed two wickets.

Chasing down the target, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders lost their first wicket for a score of 4 runs as Alishan Sharafu departed for a score of 1 run. However, Andries Gous and Michael Pepper added 85 runs for the second wicket. Pepper was dismissed for 36 runs off 25 balls, and Gous continued his attack from the other end.

Sam Hain (1) was also dismissed quickly soon after the departure of Michael Pepper. Laurie Evans scored 21 runs from 18 balls and tried to give support to Andries Gous at the other end. However, in the end, Gous made sure that Abu Dhabi Knight Riders crossed the line and he played an unbeaten knock of 95 runs from 50 balls. Gous smashed a total of 5 fours and 7 sixes.

Abu Dhabi Knight Riders moved to the 3rd spot in the points table after registering a win in their opening match of the tournament. The start was not up to the mark for the Desert Vipers, who are also the defending champions of the ILT20. The ILT20 has proved to be a huge success after the opening season of the tournament.
