India ended their first innings against South Africa at 245 runs courtesy of a fighting century from Indian batsman KL Rahul. Rahul slammed 101 runs from 137 balls and was dismissed by Proteas pacer Nandre Burger. KL Rahul hit 14 fours and four sixes in his innings and was given a standing ovation by the Indian dressing room once he reached his hundred.
On the fourth ball of the 68th over, the Indian batter faced a fullish length ball from Nandre Burger, and it was just a small lapse of concentration, Rahul played down the wrong line and hence his middle stump was knocked back. However, Rahul has already given a chance to the Indian pacers to expose the inexperienced South African batting lineup.

KL Rahul’s fighting ton helps India reach 245
The Indian team continued from 208/8 on Day 2 of the first Test and could only add 37 runs on Wednesday morning. However, 245 also didn’t look possible on his Centurion pitch when the Indian team lost their first six wickets for 121 runs on Day 1.
However, it was Shardul Thakur and KL Rahul who added the necessary 43 runs for the seventh wicket and then it was Rahul and Mohammed Siraj, who put up a 47-run stand for the ninth wicket, which ensured that the Indian team will also have an opportunity to fight back in the match.
It was not a good start for the Indian team to the first Test of the two-match series as they had already lost three wickets in the first session on Day 1 for 91 runs. This included skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
However, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer started to rebuild the innings and added 68 runs for the fourth wicket. Kohli on the one end scored 38 runs whereas, Iyer got out after scoring 31 runs.
The real hero of the Indian innings was KL Rahul, as he started to play some decent shots from the start of his innings and looked settled from the first ball. Rahul ended Day 1 with an unbeaten knock of 70 runs, which had a lot of hard work and braveness.
Speaking about South Africa, Kagiso Rabada was the star of the South African team as he ended the innings with 5/59. Rabada removed big names such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer and broke the backbone of the Indian batting lineup.
Now, the Indian team has 245 runs in its bank and also a very fair chance to come back in the first Test match of the series.
The Indian team has never won a Test series in South Africa, however, they ended up winning in Centurion when Team India last toured South Africa. However, India lost in Johannesburg and Cape Town and also a chance to win first Test series on the South African lands.
Now, when the Indian team has once again come to South Africa, they have one of the best pace attacks in the world, who have become the reason behind some of their famous overseas wins. They will want to repeat the same against the Proteas.
