Travis Head Gets The Crowd Going

Australian batter Travis Head was in a joyous mood during Day 2 of the ongoing second Test against Pakistan. The second game of the series between the teams is taking place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The second day of the ongoing Test between Australia and Pakistan at MCG saw a huge crowd making their appearance in the stadium. The atmosphere at the ground was buzzing with fans present in the Boxing Day Test at the second largest stadium in the world.

Amidst all the excitement, Travis Head stole the limelight. During the second innings, the batter entertained the crowd and made sure that he made them go along with him. It was during the 35th over when the Australian batter was batting near the boundary ropes.

Travis Head did the stretching and the crowd behind him mimicked him. What was interesting to see was that enacted his gestures as fast as he did in the background. The video of that incident went viral on the internet. Here’s the clip:

As Travis Head entertained the crowd, commentators Wasim Akram and Adam Gilchrist were left in splits. They enjoyed the moment and shared a good laugh in the commentary box.

Travis Head seemed to be enjoying his stay in the field. The crowd seemed be to terrifically behind the Australian team in the game. They cheered each and every wicket loudly and helped their home team gain much-needed momentum in a tough phase. It’s fair to say that their backing lifted the hosts as they looked down and dusted at one phase of the game.

PAK vs AUS: Travis Head scores 17 runs with the bat in Australia’s first innings

Travis Head didn’t have a great outing with the bat in the first innings of the ongoing game. He scored just 17 runs as he was removed by Shaheen Afridi. But despite him having a poor outing with the bat, Australia had a great outing with the bat.

David Warner (38) and Usman Khawaja (42) added 90 runs for the opening partnership. After that, Marnus Labuschagne (63) batted well and slammed a vital half-century that powered Australia to a total of over 300 runs.

Steve Smith (26) and Mitchell Marsh (41) supported him well as Australia posted a total of 318 runs on the board. For Pakistan, Aamer Jamal picked three wickets whereas Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Al,i and Mir Hamza bagged two wickets each.

Pakistan in response had a great start as Abdullah Shafique (62) and skipper Shan Masood (54) slammed vital half-centuries and at one stage they put pressure on the home side. But after that skipper Pat Cummins brought his team back into the game and Pakistan were left tottering at 170/6.

Mohammad Rizwan (26*) then tried to keep his side in the hunt and was unbeaten at stumps on Day 2. Pakistan ended the second day on 194/6 and is still 124 runs behind. Australia would be hoping to take the remaining 4 wickets in quick succession of time and then post a big total to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.
