Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris Leaves Bangladesh Premier League After NOC Denial

In an unexpected turn of events, Pakistani batter Mohammad Haris has been compelled to leave the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) denied him a No-Objection Certificate (NOC). Haris, a key member of the Chattogram Challengers squad, had already represented his team in two overseas T20 tournaments during the allowed period from July 2023 to July 2024, featuring in the Lanka Premier League and the Global T20 Canada.

Haris Expresses Disappointment and Gratitude

Expressing his disappointment, Haris mentioned that he had arrived in Bangladesh early, eager to contribute to the tournament. However, he later discovered that the NOC necessary for his participation would not be issued.

In a statement, Haris conveyed his gratitude to the Chattogram team management and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the opportunity, saying, “Thank you, Chattogram team management and the BCB for taking care of me and giving me this opportunity. I also flew in on time to prepare myself to give some great games to my fans in Bangladesh. Unfortunately, my NOC was not issued. Hence, I will not play any games. I knew my team needed me. Hopefully, I will join them next year. I will definitely miss playing the BPL.”

Chattogram Challengers Face Setback in BPL Campaign

The Chattogram Challengers, having experienced a mixed start to their BPL 2024 campaign with a victory against Sylhet Strikers followed by a loss to Khulna Tigers, now face a setback with the departure of Mohammad Haris. The franchise is yet to announce a replacement for the talented Pakistani batter, leaving a void in their batting lineup.

With Haris returning home due to the NOC denial, uncertainty looms over his future engagements in T20 tournaments and the potential impact on team dynamics. As Chattogram Challengers regroup and strategize for upcoming matches, the absence of Haris poses a challenge for the team to maintain their winning momentum in the BPL 2024.

Mohammad Haris’ premature exit from the Bangladesh Premier League adds a layer of unpredictability to both his career trajectory and the Chattogram Challengers’ campaign. The NOC denial becomes a pivotal moment, reshaping the dynamics of the ongoing BPL season.
