India all-rounder Shardul Thakur again yet stood tall for his state team under pressure and played a blinder. The ongoing semi-final of the Ranji Trophy 2024 is taking place between Mumbai and Tamil Nadu at the BKC Stadium in Mumbai. 

After bundling out Tamil Nadu for just 146 runs in their first innings, Mumbai also struggled to get going with the bat. They were crumbling at 106/7 and it seemed that they would fail to go past the opposition’s total but it was then that Shardul Thakur stepped up for the team and changed the course of the game. 

Shardul Thakur oozed his class with the bat and made sure that he brought his team back into the game. He looked in complete control of his innings and frustrated the opposition bowlers with his brilliant strokeplay all over the ground. 

Shardul Thakur first brought up a solid half-century in just 57 balls but made sure that he didn’t throw away the start that got. The Mumbai all-rounder batted with great concentration and made sure he slammed his maiden Test century in his red-ball career. He batted aggressively and had a strike rate of over 100 in his innings.

Shardul Thakur reached his maiden FC century in style in just 89 balls. The all-rounder brought up milestones with a big six and stepped up for the team when they needed him the most. He hit Ajith Ram for six straight down the ground and then was elated after his ton, celebrating it in an animated way.

Shardul Thakur’s innings was applauded by everyone in the Mumbai’s dressing room. He added 79 runs with Tanush Kotian for the 9th wicket that made sure his team went past 300 runs on the board, which at one moment didn’t seem possible at all. 

Shardul Thakur ended with an innings of 109 in 105 balls. He hit 13 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. His knock came at a time when his side was down and dusted. His ton helped Mumbai take command of the game and they now look like favorites to win the match. 

After Shardul Thakur got out, Tanush Kotian took charge. The bowler has done further carnage on the opposition and has slammed a vital half-century. He would be hoping to slam his ton and take the team to the big first-innings total in the game.

Not only with the bat, Shardul Thakur has been decent with the ball as well in the ongoing game. He chipped in for his team in the first innings as well. The all-rounder opened the bowling attack for his team and made sure that he troubled the opposition with his impeccable lines and lengths. 

Shardul Thakur picked two wickets with the ball and gave away only 48 overs in the 13 overs he bowled. Apart from him, Musheer Khan and Tanush Kotian picked two scalps each whereas Tushar Deshpande bagged three wickets as Mumbai bundled out Tamil Nadu for just 146 runs.
