Venkatesh Iyer smashes monstrous 106-meter six against RCB

Venkatesh Iyer had a good outing in the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-handed batsman enjoyed his most prolific season with the bat in the tournament.

He scored 404 runs with the help of two half-centuries and his maiden IPL century. The southpaw would have liked to make a strong start to his campaign in the ongoing IPL 2024 but could not do it. In the first game of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens, he was out for only 7.

However, it has not taken Venkatesh Iyer long to bounce back from the failure. In his second outing which was against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the allrounder looked in good touch and hit the longest six of the ongoing tournament so far.

He got into his rhythm by hitting Mayank Dagar for a six in the ninth over and it was a monstrous hit. On the fourth ball of the over, he danced down the track to get close to the pitch of the ball before hitting it over deep midwicket. The ball covered a distance of 106-meter.

Venkatesh Iyer did not look back after that. In the 11th over, he hit Alzarri Joseph for two sixes and as many fours.  At the time of writing this report, he was batting on 40 off 23 balls. Apart from hitting three sixes, he has also hit three fours so far.

Talking about the game, KKR were on 147 for 2 in the 14th over at the time of writing this report while chasing 183. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt gave the two-time champions a flying start. They added 86 runs for the first wicket in less than seven overs before Narine departed for 47 off 22 balls. Salt departed after scoring 30.

Earlier in the game, Virat Kohli’s unbeaten knock of 183 helped RCB post a competitive total of 182 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs.
