New Zealand batter Colin Munro is currently plying his trade in the Pakistan Super League. He is representing Islamabad United in the ongoing PSL 2024.
On Wednesday (February 28), he starred with the bat to power his team to a much-needed win over Karachi Kings. The Islamabad-based outfit thrashed the Kings by seven wickets to get back to winning ways after losing three games in a row.
Asked to bat first, the Kings scored 165 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs. They were reeling at 89 for 5 at one stage before an unbeaten knock of 48 runs from veteran allrounder Kieron Pollard helped them post a 160-plus total. He and Irfan Khan (27*) shared an unbeaten stand of 76 runs to help their side post a competitive total.
In reply, Islamabad chased down the total in 18.3 overs with Colin Munro leading the charge. The left-handed batsman scored 82 off 47 balls with the help of eight fours and four sixes. He and Alex Hales (47) all but sealed the game for their side by adding 108 runs for the first wicket in less than 12 overs.
Colin Munro struggling with media:
While Colin Munro made light work of Karachi Kings’ bowlers in the game, he had a hard time dealing with the Karachi media after the game. The New Zealand star was struggling to answer the question and made sure to vent his frustration although in a humorous manner.
“Man, you guys are hard on me. This guy’s giving me trouble about getting out the last game, bringing back history. Man, no, I am joking,” said Colin Munro.
Even Colin Munro got tough time by Karachi media 😜😜 BTW, he looked impressed by the questions 😂#PSL9 pic.twitter.com/sLo2cJZXn1

Colin Munro was adjudged the Player of the Match for his performance. Speaking at the end of the game, the southpaw expressed his delight over scoring big after a poor start to his campaign in PSL 2024.
Was not a great start of the tournament, could’ve taken it to the end in the last game and in this one too but nice to get the win. We’ve had a strong batting line-up over the years, it’s about going out there and getting the runs. Wickets haven’t been as flat as before but it’s about adapting. Just tried to play each ball on its merit. Top performance from us today, thought our bowlers were lot better,” said Munro.
