India National Cricket Team all-rounder Shivam Dube once again displayed his all-round class in the blue jersey. Shivam Dube delivered a terrific performance for India in the second T20I of the three-match series against Afghanistan National Cricket Team at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, January 14.

The 30-year-old all-rounder won the Player of the Match award in the first T20I against Afghanistan National Cricket Team in Mohali and continued his form in the second match. In the first game, he bagged one wicket and scored an unbeaten 60 runs to help India win.

In the second match as well, Shivam Dube bagged one wicket and slammed 63 runs off 32 balls, with 5 fours and 4 sixes, to guide India to a 6-wicket win. With the win, India have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.

Meanwhile, Shivam Dube showed his power-hitting during his batting masterclass against Afghanistan, but his best came when he destroyed the veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi in the 10th over of the second innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal gave the strike to Dube after taking a single on the first ball of the over and then Shivam Dube smashed three consecutive monstrous sixes to frustrate the Afghan great.

On the second ball, he came down the track and lofted the ball over long-on for a six. On the next delivery, he played a conventional slog sweep over deep mid-wicket. He then completed the hat-trick of sixes by smashing the next full-toss delivery for a maximum.

The skipper is really happy with my performance – Shivam Dube on Rohit Sharma

After the match ended, Shivam Dube spoke to the host broadcaster and talked about multiple topics. He revealed that Rohit Sharma is quite happy with his performance. He stated:

“The skipper is really happy with my performance, he told me well played. (On Jaiswal) We both are stroke players, we know our game.”

The all-rounder revealed that his role in the team is to take on the spinners and he has worked a lot on his T20 game. He asserted:

“My role was to take on the spinners, but our plan was to both attack and finish the game early. There wasn’t any target in mind, but we should have finished the game earlier. There are many things that I have worked on, apart from skill it is about how mentally you prepare for the T20 game.”

Dube further stated that he has been working a lot on his bowling as well and was delighted that it has worked out at the international level. He stated:

“How to handle pressure, and deciding which bowlers to take on. It isn’t important to hit every ball. I have been working on my bowling as well, happy that it worked out in the first game but not as much today. But that is how T20 cricket is.”

If Dube continues his form, he might make it to India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to be played in the West Indies and the USA.
