Venkatesh Prasad Snubs Virat Kohli from Best Fielder's List

Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad held a Q&A session on his X handle where fans asked him various questions regarding cricket. He was asked about the three best Indian fielders of all time and surprisingly he snubbed Virat Kohli’s name. Virat Kohli is considered one of the best fielders in the World Venkatesh Prasad does not feel so.

In the same Q&A, Venkatesh Prasad considered Virat Kohli as the greatest batsman of this generation but he did not add his name to the best Indian fielders list. Now it is noteworthy that he chose three players from three different eras of Indian cricket as the three best fielders. Venkatesh Prasad gave a perfect Indian fielding trio as his answer.

Venkatesh Prasad chose Mohammed Azharuddin, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja as the three best Indian fielders. Mohammed Azharuddin was known for his slip catching while Raina was lauded for his reflexes. Ravindra Jadeja is always hailed for his outfield wonders, be it catching, boundary-stopping, or a direct-hit runout. It is always said that when the ball goes to Jadeja you don’t run and he has proved his worth time and again on the field with his fielding.

Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Azharuddin, and Suresh Raina all three are phenomenal fielders but two of the other great fielders who could have been added to this list if it were for the top five would be Virat Kohli and Mohammad Kaif.

Venkatesh Prasad Also Names Five Best Indian Test Batters

When asked about the five most prolific Indian Test batters, Venkatesh Prasad took the names of Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, and Virat Kohli. Sunil Gavaskar has been a legend for India in Test cricket and he is from the era when there were no regulations about bouncers and batters didn’t have proper protective gear.

Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Tests in his career and was considered ‘GOD’. He has 51 centuries in Test cricket which is a world record in itself. He has scored 15921 runs in Test cricket and has been the Greatest ever to grace the game of cricket.

Rahul Dravid was considered as ‘The Great Wall of India’ for his defensive technique. He was one of the most prolific batters in Test cricket and is currently the head coach of the India Men’s National Cricket Team. He also has 13288 runs in Test cricket with an average of 52 and 36 centuries to his name in the longest format.

Virender Sehwag comes next who is the first triple centurion for India in Test cricket. He was known for his aggressive approach in Test cricket and used to start the innings with a boundary even in the longer formats. He is popularly known as ‘Multan ka Sultan’ as his first triple century came against Pakistan in Multan.

Virat Kohli comes next in this list and apart from being a great Test batter, he was one of the greatest skippers of the Indian Team in Test cricket. He has over 8000 runs in Test cricket and an average of over 49 with 29 hundreds to his name in the longest format.
