The Big Bash League (BBL) encounter between Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes saw Ricky Ponting turn into a soothsayer after his prediction about Nathan Coulter-Nile’s strategy to get Nikhil Chaudhary’s wicket.
The BBL encounter between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars ended with the former winning the match by just seven runs but one of the incidents involving Ricky Ponting was just hilarious as he predicted exactly what Nathan Coulter-Nile would do in the next ball and what will be the outcome.
Hobart Hurricanes batted first in their BBL encounter against Melbourne Stars and posted a total of 187/8 in the given 20 overs and in reply Melbourne Stars managed only 180 in their 20 overs for the loss of four wickets. Melbourne Stars were in contention to qualify for the final round in the BBL but losing two consecutive matches ended their BBL stint on a low note.
During the eighteenth over in the Hobart Hurricane’s innings, Nathan Coulter-Nile got the wicket of all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary after bowling a short ball with pace off and the result was an easy catch at the mid-off region.
The fact is that Ricky Ponting exactly predicted the strategy and the outcome before the delivery was bowled. He said, “He’ll drag the length back now, Coulter-Nile, take the pace off. It’s what he does so well here at the MCG.”
Nathan Coulter-Nile exactly dragged the length back and took the pace off to trap Nikhil and force him to attack the ball without much pace and it was easily collected by Glenn Maxwell who was fielding at the mid-off. The video of the incident is surfacing on social media and Ricky Ponting the ‘Soothsayer’ is getting lauded for his correct prediction.

The BBL has been a great spectacle for the fans this season. It followed a ten-game format for each team and now the top four have been decided. Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers have got their position fixed in the Qualifier and Knockout respectively. Brisbane Heat finished first on the BBL table whereas Adelaide Strikers finished fourth.
The battle for the second and third positions will be between the defending champions Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers. The two teams will clash on Tuesday at the Optus Stadium in Perth and the winner will take the second position and will face Brisbane Heat in the qualifiers while the loser will get the third place and will face the Adelaide Strikers in the Knockout.
The second-place team will have an advantage of an extra match as they will get to play the challenger in case they fail to win the qualifier. The winner of the Qualifier will qualify for the finals whereas the loser will play the challenger round. The Knockout winner will play in the challenger round against the loser of the Qualifier and the winner in the challenger round will face the winners of the Qualifier in the finals of the BBL.
