Prithvi Shaw’s return to competitive cricket is likely to be delayed. As per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the batter might need one more month to return. However, that too will be dependent on overcoming higher volumes of agility drills and acceleration.
The reports claimed that the workload on Prithvi Shaw is likely to increase. This is to see if the batter’s knee can endure the increased demands. If his knee responds well then he will have to play a few games before getting clearance to play in international cricket.
Prithvi Shaw is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy. The batter reportedly has batted and fielded well in the drill. But this doesn’t assure his quick comeback. His return will be dependent only on how his keen response to a higher volume of acceleration, change of directions, and agility drills.
Prithvi Shaw is expected to make a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. However, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is keeping the hopes high to see him playing in the knockout of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024.
Prithvi Shaw got injured while playing for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club in England in August. He faced an ankle injury and since then has been out of the action and missed major tournaments in the Syed Mushtaq Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
It was expected that he would make a comeback in the Ranji Trophy. But this wasn’t the case. It remains to be seen when will he make a comeback. The batter has missed a lot of cricket and has fallen a lot behind in the pecking order for India.
Apart from Prithvi Shaw, reports provide injury update of Mohammed Shami
The reports in Cricbuzz also suggested that Mohammed Shami will be leaving for London soon to consult an expert related to his ankle injury. The pacer has been out of the action since the ICC World Cup 2023 as he felt discomfort in his ankle and missed all of the series after that.
Mohammed Shami has been working hard at the NCA along with sports science head Nitin Patel. It is learned that the official will accompany the pacer to London. The dates for their travel aren’t known yet but it is expected that they will fly soon, which means that fast bowlers might miss the Test series against England.
BCCI made the decision to send Mohammed Shami to London following the decision to send Suryakumar Yadav to Germany for groin surgery. The fast bowler played a huge role for India in the World Cup, where he ended as the highest wicket-taker with 24 wickets to his name.
The reports also claimed that BCCI is also likely to send keeper-batter Rishabh Pant to London. The southpaw has been recovering from the accident he met with and is soon expected to make a comeback. It remains to be seen when he will return back to the action. As per the various media reports, he’s expected to return to the IPL.
