Sri Lanka’s New T20I Captain


Sri Lanka had a very disappointing season in the World Cup. After the World Cup, Sri Lanka went through a lot of changes. The cricket board witnessed a lot of ups and downs. A whole new setup up made for the Sri Lankan Cricket Board. Another interesting change happened in the Sri Lankan Cricket. Sri Lankan bowler Wanindu Hasaranga has been appointed as the captain of the T20 format. 

A New Skipper of Sri Lanka:

After the World Cup, Sri Lankan cricket went through a lot of things. Because of the corruption allegation, the entire board was suspended. The whole board was suspended because of the corruption. That was a setback. After this incident, the entire Sri Lankan board is decking up with a lot of new things. In that situation, an interesting decision was needed. 

After this downtime, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has taken a new step. Wanindu Hasaranga has been appointed as the new T20 captain of the Sri Lankan team. The bowling all-rounder is on his way to start a new journey. This Sri Lankan all-rounder missed the Asia Cup and the World Cup due to an injury. A new innings is waiting for the Sri Lankan bowler. 

Rise of Hasaranga:

In the last few years, Hasaranga has been a familiar name in Sri Lankan cricket. He has been a crucial figure for the country. In cricket, he has always been a big asset to the team. His leg break is a strength of the team. His aggression is a key to his success. He played 48 matches and picked up 67 wickets. He played 58 T20 matches91 wickets. 

This year IPL, RCB released him and Sunrisers Hyderabad purchased him with an amount of 1.50 crore. Now, Sri Lanka is all set to face Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series and three T20 series. All matches will be held at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
