Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag gave a savage reply after he was asked about Bazball ahead of the third Test against England. Sehwag said that it was him who started this attacking mode of cricket.
England Bazball’s approach has impressed one and all. Their attacking brand of cricket has kept Test cricket alive and has made many applaud them for the way they have played. Ever since Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum took charge, they have been completely different teams.
Their Bazball approach has been evident in the ongoing five-match series against India as well. The Ben Stokes-led side won the first game in Hyderabad and sent a rousing statement, stating that they were there to fight and make the series competitive.
England played well in the second game as well but unfortunately couldn’t win. They gave a great fight to the Indian team and put them under pressure many times. With the way they have played in the series, it’s fair to say that the remaining three games will be the cracker of the contest.
Virender Sehwag during an interaction with Sports Tak was asked about the Bazball approach. “When you hear ‘Bazball’, what comes your mind?” he was asked. Replying to this, he said: “Sehwag started that (smiles).”
Virender Sehwag notably was one of the most dangerous batters to have played a game of cricket. The opening batter believed in destroying the bowling lineups irrespective of the formats. He took attack to the bowlers right from ball 1 and guided India to many famous wins
Virender Sehwag was known for his aggressive style of play. He batted with a similar fashion in all three formats of the game. His strike rate of 82.2 in Tests, 104.3 in ODIs and 145.3 in T20Is speaks volumes about the kind of batter he was for the team.
Virender Sehwag was the first player from India to score a Test triple hundred. He racked up 309 against Pakistan in Multan in 2004 and then became only one of the four batsmen to make two triple centuries in Tests when he made 319 against South Africa in 2008 in Chennai.
Virender Sehwag rates Virat Kohli as the greatest cricketer ever
Virender Sehwag was asked to say one word about Virat Kohli. However, he didn’t take time and immediately replied “Greatest cricketer”. Kohli no doubt has been one of the best cricketers that India has produced and has been the backbone of the team for the last one decade.
Virender Sehwag also rated Jasprit Bumrah as the player with no replacement. The fast bowler is oozing his class in the ongoing series against England. The former cricketer also went on to label Rohit Sharma as Hitman. Before touting Yashasvi Jaiswal as Toofan.
The trio of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Yashasvi Jaiswal will be seen in action when India will take on England in the 3rd Test of the series. The match between the teams will take place in Rajkot from 15th February. The series between the teams is currently levelled at 1-1.
